The AS floats have been designed and developed in conjunction with five-time World Champion Alan Scotthorne.

Glow tips on AS pole floats are reinforced through the section where they join the body. This strengthens the hollow buoyant tip at a critical point and provides an extra strong foundation for the eye.

AS floats also feature a double wound stainless steel eye mounted at the base of the tip. Being placed here offers the mechanically strongest position without piercing the body, and risking water ingress, therefore affecting the floats performance. Being double wound (i.e. the eye is fully round) means the line cannot get trapped and damaged as is often the case with conventional, single wound, U-shape eyes. These special eyes are also made of blackened stainless steel to match the body, giving a more distinct demarcation line to the glow tip, so bites are easier to spot!

AS2:

Available in assorted sizes, it features a thickened 0.6mm spring stainless wire stem for improved stability compared to glass or carbon. The stem is also only bonded halfway into the bulbous body, rather than continuing up into the bristle, to improve the float’s balance and behaviour without adding unnecessary weight and detracting from the buoyancy. Alan has field-tested these floats extensively and is happy that the thicker stem will withstand plenty of abuse from catching big bags of carp!

The float bodies themselves are remarkably concentric with very little or no misalignment of the stem and tips to the body. Made from light grade balsa for maximum buoyancy to size ratio, they are coated in an extremely tough acrylic paint ensuring a strong shell-like construction, preventing line damage when under extreme pressure from big fish.

The AS2 body is slightly more bulbous than the AS1 and it features a hollow, 1.75mm diameter, buoyant, glow tip that can easily be seen in varying light conditions. The shape and bristle diameter are ideal for presenting larger baits for carp and other quality fish. The extra buoyancy can help you to distinguish true bites from line bites caused by fishing brushing against the rig.

AS3:

The AS3 has been produced in-house by our own engineers with many months of fine tuning using the most up-to-date and advanced computer controlled processes and machinery currently available, resulting in a beautifully consistent and reliable float. Alan has been using the floats extensively and is very happy with them, commenting on their remarkable consistency and build quality.

The AS3 is produced in a highly buoyant, light-grade balsa then given a special coating of our super tough acrylic paint that gives each float a protective shell-like finish. Couple this with a strong carbon stem bonded right into the body and a stainless steel spring eye located at the base of the hollow tip and this all adds up to a very strong and durable float that won’t let you down.

This pattern is designed for commercial fisheries but can also be used successfully on natural waters too. With its slim profile body and sensitive yet bright 1.2mm hollow tip, it provides little resistance to shy biting F1s, carp and silverfish and is perfect for baits such as maggots, casters and expander pellets.

AS5:

This slim shape first became popular for roach and silverfish, as it offers very little resistance to shy biting fish. Many anglers now appreciate the benefits of this design for catching carp, F1s and quality silverfish on commercial fisheries. The AS5 can be used with practically any hook bait from pellets and maggots to punched bread and sweetcorn.

The slim profile of the AS5 offers great bite detection and cuts through the water really cleanly on the strike. Importantly, this float is also extremely strong and durable with a top-grade balsa body protected by a special acrylic ‘shell’ that is incredibly tough and hardwearing.

Each float has a medium length carbon stem securely bonded into the body, plus a 1.5mm hollow Glow Tip reinforced with a fibreglass spigot.

The blackened stainless steel spring eye is lighter than most others on the market and also double wound to avoid the chances of the line getting trapped or pinched.

The AS5 is available in various sizes, making it a really versatile float that will cope with a wide variety venues.

AS8:

The AS8 are available in eight sizes from 0.4g all the way up to 3.0g. The classic shape is tried, tested and popular, making these floats a really versatile pattern, ideal for deep lakes or slow-moving rivers.

They are perfectly balanced and the long carbon stem offers good stability.

Each float comes with four highly visible, solid plastic tips in red, yellow, orange and black allowing the angler to select tip colour and change it as light conditions alter, without changing the rig or float.

Miniature precision engineering was needed to ensure a secure, perfect interference fit between the tips and the float. Together with the super tough acrylic paint finish, AS8’s also feature a strong black stainless steel spring eye, double wound to avoid the line getting trapped or pinched.

Sizes 0.4g to 0.8g come with four 1mm diameter tips and 1.0g to 3.0g floats come with four 1.25mm diameter tips (1 black, 1 red, 1 orange, 1 yellow).

Pencil Float:

Longer, slimmer and more sensitive than the AS 5, the AS Pencil is versatile float that performs equally well on all Rivers, Still waters and Commercials

It’s perfectly balanced and elongated body shape cuts through the water resulting in more positive and exaggerated bites.

The AS Pencil can be fished with a short or long line on the Pole, or for fishing to hand on the whip.

The floats feature Drennan’s unique extra tough paint finish and a stainless steel wire side eye that is securely bonded into the Balsa float body.
