The side wires give you good grip on the sea bed to help hold your rig in place but they swivel back once you start to retrieve allowing you to wind in withoput the wires constantly draging on the sea bed.

The Breakaway Impact lead is a superb sinker with a 100% reliable built in bait clip and release system. As the Impact Lead allows you to clip the bait right onto the sinker you have possibly the ultimate streamlined rig which casts like a bullet. The Impact Lead is superb for either a single clipped down rig or as the basis for a multi-hook 'cascade' rig.

As well as casting well the Impact Lead also holds well in strong tides and makes a very good all round shore fishing grip weight.
